Playoff highlights

I know you are all on the edge of your seats waiting to hear the highlights from last nights playoff game.

When we arrived at Lynnwood High School there were Canadian Geese all over the out field; so Kent, our coach's husband, decided to take them for a walk.




As we were getting ready for the first game, we were given our 3rd place trophy. I guess the playoffs are a whole different thing so we placed third for the season & now we are headed for first in the playoff's.

And me up to bat. The first game I hit AWESOME. I think I went 3-4, the first hit was a pop up. The second game was a whole nother issue... I don't even know what I hit, but I know I pulled a muscle in my hip, so I have to get that healed before next weeks game.




We won our first game, which meant we had to play the winner of the other game... that's right we were in the "winner's bracket" Yahoo!!

Me being catcher. Kim and I were so lucky. We had 11 girls, which means Kim & I share catching duties. In last nights heat I was VERY thankful to have someone to trade off with so I could sit down.

We WON our second game by one run! I couldn't believe it. We play again next week at 7:30 and if we win that one we are the CHAMPIONS!!!!!! What!?!?! you heard me. If we lose, we have to play again at 8:45 for the hope of the championships. It's hard to believe that a few years ago we were a team that was on the bottom of the standings and now we have slowly worked our way up.

We finished off our night, praying for Nita and thanking God for an amazing and safe night. Keep Nita in your prayers this next week, she is having surgery to get new implants in her ears so she can hear.

Random Weekend Stuff

This weekend was a fun one.

Friday I was working from home, so Mikayla came over to play with Josiah.
Saturday was Mikayla's Birthday party so we went over to Kim's. I didn't pull my camera out but the kids played the Wii and went in the pool. We had a blast celebrating her birthday.
After the party we enjoyed some adult time at Kim's. Josiah & Mikayla watched a movie.


We stayed out late, but still managed to make it to church. Here is Josiah enjoying his hot chocolate with extra whipped cream.



And Mikayla showed up where her birthday crown, Josiah tried it on and I quickly grabbed my camera. I did have to bribe him, but it was worth it.


Sunday we spend the day at the Williams house. We are house/pet sitting for two weeks. David is taking care of the yard and they have a swing set in the back yard so Josiah is in love.

Then it was off to softball. Now, at Mikayla's party fairy wings were handed out... and some (David) brought them to the game. Here are a few random photos from that game.

Another Story from family camp

I have been saving this story for the pictures. At first it was a little embrassing, now it's rather amusing. So enjoy and have a little laugh at my expense.

On Wednesday morning of family camp Keith mentioned that he was doing the ropes course. I have ALWAYS wanted to do a ropes course so I JUMPED at the chance and it ended up being a big group of us doing it together: Keith, Kim, David, Alex, Cassandra & Becca.

I decided I wanted to go towards the end so I could take my time and not feel like someone was waiting on me. I knew this would takes it toll on my body, but I had a big mouth on the ground telling me I couldn't do it, so I was so stubborn I wanted to prove him wrong.

Kim & I after scaling a 25 foot tree... that's RIGHT we did it, we got to the top. Not an easy task for either of us. Now normally they wouldn't have put two people in the same place but this young girl got stopped ahead of us on the course and couldn't move. So I was stuck there for a good 30 minutes, in the heat, with no water, after the adernaline of climbing the tree.
Kim decided that scaling the tree was more than enough for her and she felt she accomplished enough and decided to zip line out. As I waited for the girl in front of us I contimplated the same thing- but the big mouth on the ground was still talking smack and I was going to prove him wrong (by the way, the girl who got stuck- her name was "Cori" was God trying to tell me that if this young Cori couldn't do it, maybe I should cut my losses and zip line the heck out of there?).

So after our long wait I crossed the wire, 25 feet in the air, it was an interesting challenge and Cassandra was at the other end cheering me on. I made it to the tree and guess what... ANOTHER guy was chickening out and we got stuck. So I balanced on the line for quite some time... in the heat, with no water and after the new adernaline rush of balancing across a wire.

I managed to climb around the tree, but then that was it. My body said no more. One of the guides brought me water, I was contemplating tossing my cookies and the only thing going through my mind was "If I pass out can I will my hands to hang on to the tree?". At some point I said the magic words "I think I am going to pass out" and from what others had said the staff kicked into high gear and got me ready to repel from the tree.

As I stepped of the platform I slammed into it with my thigh and said "that's gonna leave a mark" and it did.

I don't remember hitting the ground, but I did. I was surronded by many people. Someone was smart enough to send Josiah off so he didn't witness it.


As I was laying on the ground the staff asked if we had a doctor in our group and someone offerend to run & get Doc, so I waited for doc.



When I looked up and saw four guys walking towards me with big cases I thought "Where is Doc and boy those doctors are awfully prepared for camping". Come to find out it is protocall for the camp to call 911 in the case that someone is repel out of a tree for medical reasons. The EMT's worked on my and wanted me to go get checked out, but I refused. They did an ekg and still tried to convince me. I was nervous and embarassed by the attention and the crowd that had followed. So they left with out me and I got ready for softball (That's right, I didn't go tot he ER cause I didn't want to miss the game.) I hydrated myself and went to play softball. I don't remember the game, but I know I came back to camp and went to bed with a massive migraine.


One thing to note about this whole adventure:
1. Alex flew through the ropes course (with the exception of waiting on others). I am SO proud of him! I wish I had watch him, but I was busy. He did an amazing job.

Softball!!

Ok, so as most of you know David & I are active in our churches softball teams. He plays on the Men's Spring & Summer, plus coed. I play for the Women's and this year I am subbing for coed. Well for the FIRST time EVER our girls team will be in the playoffs!!! How exciting! The playoffs start next Wednesday and it's a double elimination tournament.

Nita. This is her first year playing with us, but she is really great and has a great personality. I hope she comes back next year.

Home Depot

So, many years ago I used to take Alex to Home Depot every other Saturday to make a project. This was a free event that home depot did. The kids got aprons, and a pin when they were done. It was kind of funny, because Alex just recently threw his apron away.

So on Friday night we enjoyed dinner at the Tollefson's (A FABULOUS family we know & love) and Gary was telling us about how he take's their daughter Grace there every other week.

So I asked David to start that tradition. I was a little jealous that David agreed cause I really wanted to do it. So the next morning David got in REALLY late from X-box night so I offered to take Josiah, and here are the photos:






Here is Gary & Grace. I think Grace and Maddie (the Tollefson's girls) are two of the most beautiful girls I have ever met, and they have the personality to boot.



I asked Josiah if he wanted to call grandma and see if he can hang his bird house in his yard and he said "No way, this is really special, I want to put it in my room". So the bird house will become a lego man house.

Company Picnic

This last Saturday we enjoyed our company picnic. We invited Mikayla along with us, since Alex was still visiting Grandma Billie. The picnic was at the Family Fun Center in Renton. We all had a great time

After we played games Mikayla & I enjoyed a game of Laser tag, where our team WON! It was really a great time and we all left exhausted!

Dilema....

Ok here is my dilema, I have 3 blogs. One is just my random thoughts and I haven't updated it since April. The 2nd is this one which is family stuff, and the 3rd is my lupus update...

The dilema, when something is REALLY good I want to share it, but I don't know who checks what blog because NO ONE COMMENTS!!! More Family Camp

This one time at Fam Camp......

Here are more stories & photo's of family camp: This is Drew & Nathan Russell. Two really great kids that I loved spending the week with.

Bike Riding
Now at family camp their is one thing you MUST remember to bring if you have kids and that is their bikes. Josiah brought his bike and he was the only one in his age group on training wheels. The kids spend HOURS every day on their bikes. I figure they can eat all the smores they want cause they will spend the next day riding for hours! On thursday Josiah asked to have his training wheels removed and it didn't take long before he was on two wheels! We were so proud of him and he was beaming from ear to ear the rest of the week. I think everyone at family camp learned that Josiah was off his training wheels. He announced it to everyone, sometimes at the top of his lungs, singing with joy.




Emily Rose brought Ember camping with her in laws. I know Emily from our twice a year quilting retreat and I have always wanted to get to know her, well now that she has a baby & I'm baby crazy we have been spending a lot more time together. She really is a cool gal!
