Quick Update

So I had surgery on Wednesday. The details I got were what the doctor told me mom...
When they opened up the ankle it was much worse than anticapated and they did a lot of cleaning out as well. He also did some other stuff that i can't remember right now due to my drug induced faze. He was also impressed that I was still mobile on the ankle as bad as it looked. and because of all this surgery was longer than expected.
that last part I could care less about.... it was the best nap I have had in a LONG time.
yesterday wasn't bad. They gave me a nerve block for the surgery so it wasn't until late last night that I finally started to really feel the pain.
I opted to stay home one more day since th pain is so much, that I am still feel loopy from the drugs.
Just an FYI- it's nice to know how much people care, but I really need some sleep, so no calls please, at least not until after 3:00.
Thanks for your prayers and kind words :-)

Sunday's Coed Softball Game

And here is a re-cap of the game from our coach. To see more about this fancy propsal go to Kim's blog (Link on the right).

And so it happened right next to the mud puddle! A proposal and an acceptance, and for all this O-crew came out and whipped the Bomb right out of the Bomb Squad. With a 21-12 drubbing the O in O-crew might have stood for offense for the second game in a row. It was the end of the third inning and defensive replacements were made to insure Kim Stevens would be walking toward Keith, Mikayla and the sign! The question was asked and a yes was given! Coach Johnson would like to thank all that came to the game to participate and witness this great event. “I think this picture shows one thing for sure. Bonnie Oliver had to have run faster than she ever has to get in there, how else could she have beat our second baseman Kelsey off the field?”, asked Johnson. One more game to go and on to playoffs! Well we hope anyways. After the third inning I don’t remember much of the game I was on auto pilot the rest of the way. So who deserves the game ball this week? This week is Jeff “Triple” Muter, for once again swinging a mighty stick! With three hits and three runs scored the women’s ball goes to Ellen. This was Cori Lewis’ last game! Thanks for playing and we look forward to hearing you cheer us the rest of the way. Thanks for the sign, the flowers, and for being a big part of our lives. You are without a doubt the best cubbie leader I have ever had!

A little bit about me (Cori)

If you had asked me 5 years ago what kind of books I read I probably would have laughted in your face, I don't like to read, at all. But then Alex was also learning to read and we were doing everything we could to bribe him to read, it was one of my regrets in life that I never found the enjoyment of a good book and I didn't want him to grow up with the same regret. At the same time Harry Potter was becoming more and more popular and he wanted to go see the movie. So, of course, like any good parent who is trying to get their son to read I told him he couldn't see the movie until he read the book. Well that was an "Uh-Oh" cause we really didn't know much about the book and how it fit in to our beliefs (which it really doesn't). So I picked up the book to read it before I would allow him too and I instantly fell in love.
After my Harry Potter addiction I needed more, I wanted more books that had mystery and a character I could fall in love with. First there was Sue Grafton, then Janet Evanovich and now JA Jance... I am additced to one of her characters (Beamount) he is based out of Seattle and I love reading all the things he does cause I can picture everything.
So why am I telling you all this? Because in "Cori's reading world" this has been a GOOD week! first I got my 7th and final harry potter book and read the entire thing and was still very pleased with the ending even though I had my doubts. And today JA Jance released another Beamount book... I even ran down to the mystery book store in down town to meet her and get my book signed!

So this may not be a big deal, but while I am in the middle of a hectic week (see lame-o post below for those details) I have the entertainment of some good books.

Enjoy your week. There will be no new post for the next few days while I am recovering from surgery.

30th Birthday slide show

My good friend Kim Stevens worked really hard on a slide show for my 30th birthday. We showed it to all who would watch. Since it's 113 slides I had to cut it up to get it up on the site... I didn't know I would have to cut it up 13 times :-) so enjoy...These are in order and during the show they played "my next thirty years" by tim mcgraw- a fitting song for me... Words are posted below.
I reccomend you watch one at a time... just remember what picture you started on :-)

I think Ill take a moment, celebrate my age
The ending of an era and the turning of a page
Now its time to focus in on where I go from here
Lord have mercy on my next thirty years

Hey my next thirty years Im gonna have some fun
Try to forget about all the crazy things Ive done
Maybe now Ive conquered all my adolescent fears
And Ill do it better in my next thirty years

My next thirty years Im gonna settle all the scores
Cry a little less, laugh a little more
Find a world of happiness without the hate and fear
Figure out just what Im doing here
In my next thirty years

Oh my next thirty years, Im gonna watch my weight
Eat a few more salads and not stay up so late
Drink a little lemonade and not so many beers
Maybe Ill remember my next thirty years

My next thirty years will be the best years of my life
Raise a little family and hang out with my wife
Spend precious moments with the ones that I hold dear
Make up for lost time here, in my next thirty years
In my next thirty years

Josiah is Famous...

Lame-O

So I thought I was going to be all cool and stuff and update the blog with more family camp photos last night... but I had a wisdom tooth pulled. In the midst of my pain I realized that I think the left side of my body is on strike. My left ankle, my left hip and now the whole left side of my mouth. Man o Man. Will I EVER know what a pain free day feels like :-). I guess the bright side is pain pills are a good thing :-).
Update on teh ankle- on Wednesday I will have surgery to have the bone spurs and scar tissue removed and he will also look at the cartilidge damage. I will be on crutches for 4-6 weeks- yahoo. I think I need a vacation- some nice warm beach where I can just lay in the sun and be pain free.
Talk to you all soon.

Family Camp!!

This last week we spent 5 days at Family Camp, an annual camping trip we make with our church. This is our second year and we had a LOT of fun!
On Wednesday morning Alex & I got up at 5:50 am and headed down town to see Harry Potter in IMAX! We've seen the last three movies there so it was only fitting that we see the fifth movie there and in 3D! It was sooooooo cool! I am a harry potter nut.

As soon as we got back we packed up the car and headed for Warm Beach and our camp spot.

Warm Beach camp grounds is 35 miles from our house. Our church host the camp every year up there. We had a great camp site big enough for all 7 of us. Keith, Kim and Mikayla shared our spot & meals with us.

Campfire fun. David also taught Josiah how to use a knife, which after his lesson David cut his thumb open. It was actually amusing since he just lectured Josiah how to be careful :-).

Thursday was another relaxing day. David took the kids to the pool and ended up with a great workout. Throwing 5 year olds in the air can really work those muscles.

Family camp is also full of...

Meals with those you love

LOTS of biking riding...

New friends... this is James

This is Jennifer & her two boys, she camped next to us and joined us for campfires and fun times around the fire

Ultimate Freesbie.. this was my first time playing and two days later I am still sore.

On Saturday we have Family games, races tug of war and the famous water fight (if you are on grass you are fair game to get SOAKED).

Keith, don't you know it's not right to shoot an unarmed child- even if it is your own?

On Sunday we headed home. I will post more stories and events throughout the week... including my birthday party!
