Something to enjoy

Josiah got an MP3 player a while back and I filled it with a lot of music. He loves Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and many other artists (A boy after my own heart), so when I filled the MP3 player I was careful to put songs on it that weren't "bad" for his little ears. Every once in a while I catch him singing along and I wonder if that song should be on there. On Sunday we were waiting, in the van, for David to finish up in church and I caught Josiah singing along to a Bryan Adams song. It was so cute I pulled my camera out and he sang the whole thing for me. The fun part is he doesn't know some of the words and he guesses them- so it's pretty cute.

Keely's Wedding

On Friday I was lucky enough to stand up with a good friend of mine while she got married. During photo time, her 7 year old daughter had my camera, so the angle is a little off, but enjoy...
Here is Keely with another one of her bridesmaids.

In order to save some money Keely got her flowers through a wholesaler and her mom did all the center pieces and I did the bouquets. I have NEVER done bouquets in my life, but I think they turned out all right.
Bride's bouqet:

Throwing bouqet:

and you can see the bridesmaid's bouqet in the photo's above. I also helped out with Keely's make up and the other bridesmaids make up (Neither one of them are girly girls and neither one was comfortable doing make up). I also did Arianna's hair (keely's daughter).

And then there was the reception. It was probably one of the funest weddings & receptions I have been too. The wedding, was a minor roast on the groom. The priest went to high school with both Keely & Paul so there were some GREAT stories and the reception had dancing. So of course, not knowing anyone there other than Keely I danced the night away (And I paid for it the whole weekend...). Here are some photo's & Stories of what went on- of course of david dancing. David threatening to attack the cake before the bride & groom arrived.

Keely's aunt was getting a little fresh with David, but then again he was in a three piece suit and was incredibly hot, so who could blame her? I did have to reclaim him though.
Saturday night fever anyone? I was very excited about the cake. Keely hired Mike from "Mike's amazing Cakes" to do her wedding cake. Now for those of you who watch the food network know that Mike is a good friend to Duff Goldman. So even though I didn't get to meet Mike it was so cool to taste a cake and see a cake that is in the same league as Duff Goldman. I hope this video uploads.... I know you all have to turn your head to the side, but it's for Theresa- it's David dancing to Ice, Ice, Baby just for you :-).

Overall it was a GREAT wedding! I had helped Keely for months with ideas and money/time saving "Martha Stewart" hints to have a great wedding on a budget. We had a GREAT time and I can't remember the last night I danced the night away. Which leads to this last story: Keely's request to the DJ was to play all the bad wedding songs. So we danced to The Chicken Dance, The Electric Slide (Which BTW, David had never heard of... WHAT???? I was the QUEEN of the electric slide in high school), The time warp, YMCA and MANY, MANY others). It was a BLAST.

Did you know?

I'm madly in love with Bryan Adam's music. And did you know, HE HAS A NEW SONG??????

Yep and a new album that comes out soon. I love music. Music can say so much. So when I read the words of his new song my heart melted. Here you go and if you want to hear the song you can listen on the side of this blog.

I Thought I'd Seen everything
adams/kennedy/lange ©2008
i like the way we are - i love what we've become
when i'm in your arms - i know i've found the one
i love your kiss me mouth - and your static touch
its just the way you are - that makes me feel so much

no one could ever know - what we're like alone
rollin' round like rain - we're a midnight storm
like a river rising - i feel it thru your skin
when we're together - i never want it to end

i thought i'd seen everything - til i saw you
i thought i'd been everywhere - til i'd been with you
i thought that everyone knew what i knew
i thought i'd seen everything - til i saw you

i like the way we are - like a raging fire
burning up the night, burning with desire
you're such a sweet temptation - you know i can't resist
electricity, hey every time we kiss

President's day

On President's day we all had the day off. David wanted to work on my parents basement (It's our gift to my dad for Christmas- David is completely their basement, which mean's dry wall and a new bathroom).

I decided to take the boys for a fun day to the aquarium. My parents joined us and it was a lot of fun.

How tall are you compared to a 6 gill shark???

And my favorite part of the aquarium? this glass fish enclosure that is above your head. I could just stand under it and enjoy the fish for the longest time. It is so great.

Other stuff I did in the last two weeks???

On Saturday some girls went out and celebrated Katrina's birthday, it was SOOOOOOO much fun and I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. Then last night I met up with Katrina and Theresa to celebrate Theresa's birthday and it was a BIG one so we made it extra special. I didn't pull my camera out so you will have to check their blogs for the photos.

Also I watched Gabe again. that baby is amazing and my brother is blessed to have such a good baby - and he is such a good dad, I am so proud of him!

Wordful Wednesday

Instead of “Wordless Wednesday” today is “Wordful Wednesday” (I know that isn’t a word). I have been pondering the following for days & I hope it makes you ponder a little too.

Last Saturday I was asked, “What did you thank God for this week”. For me that was somewhat easy, other than the obvious things (family, home and food) I answered Mount Rainer as the sun comes up.
On Monday I was listening to a sermon online and in the sermon the Pastor asked “Do you thank God for EVERY little thing?” Did you thank God for getting up this morning? Did you thank God that you knees work? Did you not just thank God for your food, but for the fact that you can lift the spoon to your mouth, or that your mouth can chew it up. Did you thank God that your car started, or that you had a red light to ponder something, maybe Him for just an extra moment.

Now at first I was thinking, yes I thank God for everything always, but then I thought- do I mean it, or am I just rehearsing the same thankfulness that I say every day?

So this morning when I got out of bed and my morning stiffness didn’t last more than a few steps I praised the Lord that my body is beginning to take to these meds. I then thanked God that my lights & water worked in my house. I continued to find things all the way to work and still while I am at work to praise Him for and REALLY mean it. I even had a moment where I thanked Him for the diagnosis of Lupus & Fibro, tears welled up in my eyes, but I was in a joyous, thankful heart for such an amazing answer to my prayers.

So I challenge you today, to find those small things we take for granted and stop to praise Him for He is the author and creator of our faith. Feel free to post comments on what you did today to praise Him for your day- I would love to hear them!

PS- I hope to post more stuff to my blog soon! I have been so tired latey and the blog took a hit. I am feeling refreshed and ready to start posting! Praise the Lord!!!!!

My Friend, Boot

I want you to meet my new friend. His name is Boot, I know it's not very creative, but I can't think of another name for him.

I first met Boot last July when dealing with my ankle pain. Boot has been a good friend, he has supported me through the pain and stiffness of a bad ankle. And, at the end of July Boot was retired to the closet and Boot was there alone for those several months.

Well last week I had to go in search of Boot. I called out for my dear friend in desparation. You see, two weeks ago something snapped in my ankle. I didn't think anything of it until late the next day I wasn't able to bear any weight on my ankle so the doctor told me to find my friend the Boot.

So here I am with Boot, back in my life, supporting a bad ankle. Boot was saddened on Tuesday when my doctor stated that I should only need to have him around for one more week. And if my ankle didn't get better we should do another MRI to see if a piece hasn't broken off and it isn't floating around in there. If that's the case than it's another surgery. Both Doc and I agreed that another surgery would be a bad thing.

So to my friend-Boot- you maybe around for a lot longer than next week. You may become a lifelong friend.

My weekend

During my quest to figure out why I can't post video from my camera to online I somehow deleted 1/2 of my weekend photos!!!!!

On Saturday I babysat Gabe (my nephew) for the day. Here are some moments that I will get in trouble for.
One of the missing photos is of him trying his first piece of chocolate... a cadberry egg. This pic is from my cell phone- so it isn't good quality.

then I let him play with my mom's laptop- sorry that one got deleted along with Josiah playing on the laptop.

Then we took him to lunch for his first taste of other things.

French fries?

And then there was the Wendy's frosty. I gave him a little taste and he was hooked. Everytime I brought the spoon to my own mouth he followed with his wide open and wasn't happy when I didn't share... sorry no photos of the frosty either.

We had such a good time. He has learned to kiss and coo. He has such a great personallity.

Valentine's

Those of you that know me really well know that I passionatley hate forwarded emails. I don't even read them. I don't have time and personally the chain letters and the if you do "a" you will get "b" are a hoax... Yes, even the ones that claim Bill Gates will give everyone on this email a $1.00. So when someone sent me this link I hestitated- until I saw it was posted on ESPN. Now instead of forwarding this out and starting one of those awful forwards myself I thought I would share it with all of you and HOPE that you would take 10 minutes to send this boy a valentine.

The short story is this. It's a 3 year old boy with a rare form of cancer and they want everyone to send him valentine's to get the word out. How can you not? If you don't have time to read the whole store scroll to the bottom for his PO Box address and send some love!!! I would love to hear if you did this- or if I'm just wasting my time :-).

No Posts?!?!?

Ok, so the threatening emails can stop... I am posting a new post. Please understand that I haven't been feeling very well over the last few weeks and the meds I'm on for my lupus have really started to take their toll on me. So here you go an update....

Almost two weeks ago we got snow! it was fun, Josiah and I went out for a little while to play in it. We then spent the rest of the day inside, I worked on the quilt.... and the boys enjoyed just being home. It was a nice day.

I love the snow! I know to several of you this is just a dusting of snow, but not to us this is plently and we love it. The best part- it was gone the next day so life could pick back up.

My Perfect Weekend

Sorry for the lack of post, but we have been busy with life and it's really nothing that we have captured on film or something worth blogging. Soonn Baseball will be starting up so the blog will be going wild.

On Saturday I was asked to describe my perfect Saturday. What I didn't know was that I was at the begining of a perfect weekend. Let me tell you about my perfect weekend.

Saturday was near perfect. After I got home from Bible Study David, Josiah & myself cleaned off Josiah's exploding bookshelf. Alex went to his dad's house (example one of why it wasn't perfect- no Alex). We then jumped in the van and headed for the library. I love going to the library, not because I enjoy reading, (I really don't) but because Josiah's face lights up with the overwhelming number of books. Then we took all of Josiah's old book's to half price books so he could trade them all in for a couple of new books.

Then home. We then spent the afternoon hanging out, playing games and I even got to work on my quilt... I will post on that later. David went to xbox night with the guys (reason 2 it was short of perfect, but I'm not complaining I enjoy an evening free now and then).
I spent the afternoon reading a new mystery novel and at Josiah's book time he came out and curled on the couch with me and we both read our books together. Too bad no photos. Josiah headed to bed & I told him I would tuck him in in a few minutes. Two minutes later Josiah came into the living room and very simply said "Mom, I think it's time you put the book down." I have to admit it was super cute.

Then I curled up in bed with a bad chick flick and ended up finishing my book anyways.

Sunday was a normal Sunday, Church and football. The Patriots won & so did the Giants. David proclaimed that there will be no Superbowl for him this year- ouch... we will see if he actually watched the game or not- I would be willing to bet he does.

And Monday was the PERFECT day. I actually spent the whole day in my PJ's. There was NO bickering between the boys and we all just hung out and yes, I even got to work on my quilt.

It's going to be hard going back to work tomorrow- especially since I have had a nap all three days. What a great weekend!

My New Quilt Project

Background:

My dad has drank Crown Royal whiskey since I can remember. These bottle's come in purple felt bags.

So when my mom asked me if I could make a quilt out of the bags, I said sure! So she started collecting and two years later I have over 200+ bags. In October I figured out the best way to cut, iron, recut, and put together. I am no where NEAR done... actually I am no where near sewing. Just cutting, ironing, cutting again. The ironing is getting difficult for me because of my arthritis. so today I enlisted the help of others.

David even helped me out a little.

So what does 200+ crown royal bags look like all cut in half?

So if anyone is looking for some girl time and wants to be put to work, give me a call and you can come over... :-).
I will keep you posted. I am hoping to have everything cut and ready to sew by the next church quilting retreat so I can spend that weekend assemblying the thing.

I am re-posting this photo because I forgot to add one thing to the post...

Samuel.... there is a hidden Mickey in here just for you! I put it in there- tell me if you can find it :-). and from now one your will have to start look closely for those Mickey's in my photo's :-).

Update

Busy, busy, busy. I have bearly had time to breathe the last week and honestly I HATE that!!! What I wont blog about is the project at work I am working on that is consuming most of my awake time- If I'm not on the computer working on it I'm thinking about it. Hence the no blog post. I know, I'm sorry. And today I started to feel guilty that there is nothing new on here, so here I go.

Saturday David & I went to the Seahawks playoff game!!! It was AMAZING! We had a great time. The couple we sit next to are so fun and we enjoy the games together- sadly I don't even know their names yet! I guess that will have to wait til next year.

The game was good, I held my breathe for about 6 minutes of the game- all of you should know which 6 minutes- but we got the lead back and continued on.
The 12th Man wasn't as loud as they should have been, I have been to louder games, but we still won so I'll take that. Those of you watching from home learned that Tom Cruise was there as a Redskins fan, no I didn't see him, and I'm glad for that
:-).

There is a 6% chance that the NFC Championship game will be played here, so we are very hopeful!

Sunday we vegged out, I worked. Then we had some family fun with the Wii. We played bowling and Golf. It was a lot of fun but I think I need more practice!

Anyways, enjoy your weeks! Hopefully are life will pick up with more fun and less busyiness for us to post about!

Nothing new to report

Since there was a holiday this week and some people (not mentioning names) always bug me to update the blog, I thought I would tell you about our new years holiday.

There is nothing to tell... (hence the blank area above). New Year's eve consist of me going to bed early and this year David let Josiah stay up til 10:00 to watch Harry Potter and then David & Alex played baseball on the Wii til who knows when. I have never been one to celebrate New Year's Eve and this year was no different.
New Year's day we took down the tree, and did errands. Maybe I just don't get the whole New Year's thing. I could care less that we switch a year, or about making resolutions or reflections. The only good part is a day off work. Not to be a "Debbie Downer" it's just not one of those holiday's I have ever really gotten into. So when you say to me "Happy new year" and I give you a blank stare and then remember to say it back- don't be offended- it's just another day in another year.
:-)

(I hope no one takes offense to this- just thought you should know why there are no photos or exciting stories!)

Friday

We decided to take Josiah to work again today since he did so well on Monday, plus it's still really quiet in the office so he wont bug anyone.

And that also meant a trip to the LIBRARY! Not just any library, the downtown library, the library I have been telling Josiah about for months... the library that has 10 floors of books.

When we first walked in we saw the kids book section- which makes any kids section in a Snohomish library look pitiful. There was EVERY kind of book and in several langues. We immediatley got Josiah an application for his own card. Here he is signing it.

But of course the first floor wasn't enough, we took the escaltors up to the 10th floor. It was great, on each escalator we could see the different floors with their shelves of books. Josiah's eyes we huge, he was in awe of all the books.

Here we are on the top floor

It was very cold and windy outside, so I couldn't get a picture of him outside so we went back to the office with our stack of books and took a picture "In front" of the library...

So far it's been a fun day!

My Dinning Room Table

Well, what can I say I sew here, we eat here and now it's become the spot where a war is taking place between the Viking Lego's and the Castle Lego's. The viking's are seriousely out numbered so Josiah knows they will loose.

Just so you know, this doesn't even hit the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Josiah's lego's. And also know David put them all together- I don't know who had more fun.

I guess our dining room table has many roles in our home.

Now these next set of photos are just some funny faces we took to help cheer up a friend of mine, who claims she is checking my blog often for a smile today... you know who you are.

Hope you all had a great day!!!
